rant about bad pet owner

ok - because this bothered me so much - I just had to post. There is some JERK is see driving on I-10 every now and then that has a white Toyota pickup. He has a beautiful Boxer who he makes ride in the bed. if that wasn't bad enough all on its own, this morning while it was 39 out and pouring rain I saw him pass me on the free way. he must have been doing around 85mph. The poor boxer was in the bed of the truck - FREAKING OUT - because of the wind rain and cold. I started to cry. ok, ok...not just cry. I started to ball my eyes out. I wanted to pull this guy over - pull him though the window of his truck, strap his ass to my roof rack, put the poor boxer in side of my nice warm dry cargo area of my explorer and drive down the freeway at 85 and see how the ass hole liked it. my god, I am sorry but this bothered me to no end. you could tell how freaked out she was and she would shake the water off, my heart broke this morning. it truly did.

wow

so - its been a while.  not sure if I still have any readers left.  might get some new ones I hope.  This summer was full of personal strugles that kept me from writing.  Life has gone back to normal now.  well, I shouldn't say normal cause that means they went back to the way they were.  Life had become something that makes me happy once again.  I have my family back together and I have my heath and I have my job.  not much more I can ask for.  With some outside help my personal life has begun to heal.  Dozer has had some health issues in the latter part of this year.  this summer we had two very scary weeks of vet visits and shots and pills.  He had an allergic reaction to something.  They told us to bring him in for test after he had been off the benadryl for 30 days.
  well life kicks in and we forgot to schedule the tests.  So when it came time for his shots in november I was going to have then do it, but they gave him a shot of benadryl to prevent any reaction to the shots he might have.  there goes our chance for the test.  Then a few weeks ago we had another round with the hives.  I gave him the benadry and they went away.  The next day they were back, but this time he could not swallow the benadryl.  His tongue had started to swell.  it was very scary and we rushed him back to Valley Animal hospital.  they gave him some more meds and sent us on home.  he has been fine since.
  so Bryan and I have decided to rip out the carpet in the house, use only pet safe cleaners and invest in some liquid benadryl.  it is part of his life that we will just have to look out for.  otherwise he is a happy bouncing boxer at a year and a half and 50lbs.  doesn't look like he will get much taller, but should start to fill out.  he is a little guy, but that's fine with me.  I promise that I will be better about keeping up with the updates and I will not go MIA if I can help it.

We are on our way to get my little man. He was bitten by something. A very scary experience for any pet parent. Hope my baby is ok.

Well...had to take dozer to the vet hospital...they are keeping him for a few hrs. We think he got bit by something. My poor baby's face is all swollen.

Update for May

Mom had surgery yesterday - seems to be healing ok.  I have a lot of dr's appointments coming up next month.  I have to get some dental work repaired tomorrow, that should be fun.  I will try to be on here to update more often, life has been crazy lately.  Change is sometimes needed and it is time I had some change in my life.  Need to get back on track, focus on my goals and move ahead with my plans for the future.  I need to get my ducks back in a row - they are running amok.

Sorry fans - I have been rather ill - still kinda am.  But I have to see a lot of Dr's and what not so we shall see what they say.  Dozer is on his way to being 11 months old and almost 50lbs.  He is such a good boy, and getting bigger by the day it seems.  I love watching him play and run around.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures yesterday, he is such a clown when the camera is out.  I am not down 40.5lbs with my weight loss, have 15.5 left go to - I can not believe it.  Had to get a new bowl for Dozer, he is getting almost 6 cups of food a day.  he gets 3 in the morning and 3 at night.

It is starting to get warm in the Old Pueblo, nights are starting to not cool off either.  This makes it hard to get a good nights sleep.  Seems to be affecting Dozer as well, he jumps off the bed all night long.  This has started to take its toll on Bryan and I.  I slept out in the living room last night with the dogs so at least one of us would get a goods night sleep.  Since I don't sleep anyways I took the couch.  I woke up feeling like I was hit by a bus after getting only about 2hrs sleep.  I am buying a floor fan this weekend - also need to come up with a way to really wear Dozer's butt out before bed time during the week.  Tomorrow is the Saturday that my mom and I get to go get our nails done.  It is our every other weekend treat.  We get to hang out - have breakfast and go grocery shopping.  Most weekends my dad tags along too so I get to see them both and that is very nice.  Well I am off to try to keep my butt from dragging too bad and get through the day.

Happy Easter

I hope you all had a blessed Easter with you family - I had a wonderful weekend!  Hubby took me out to dinner on Saturday, then spent Sunday with my parents.  My little sister even showed up - it was nice.  This time of year is always hard for me.  Watching everyone outside with their kids finding eggs - coloring the eggs - getting baskets ready for their kids.  *sigh* One day it will be my turn - One day I will be able to wake up my child and see the look of suprise on her face when she sees her basket with stuff in it and help her find the eggs Bryan and I hid for her.  Having to make sure Dozer doesn't eat any of them!  I about have a break down in a store last week - looking at all the Easter stuff. If any of you know the laws on raising money for adoption or person fund raising please send me the info you have - it would be much appreciated,   Dozer is getting so big!  we had to up his food intake by a cup over the weekend - he was still looking for food after his dinner - will have to get him a bigger bowl too.  I can not wait to get him off the puppy food - the adult food comes in much bigger bags, so I will have to go to the store less.

walgreens

so - I put in an order to have my migraine meds mailed to me cause I was short - so sunday I gave in and took my last one with the hopes that my refill was in the mail.  Little did I know that I would get an email this morning from walgreens stating that my dr had refused to refill it!  WTF - so I call his office - his nurse said they called over 3 refills for me.  So I called walgreens - they told me Dr had refused due to me not seeing in in the last year - OMG - so I told the lady at walgreens.com that I was not playing this game and she better fix it.  Very nicely though.  So she also said that is was on backorder and I would have to get it local.  fine - local is ok.  So I just got a call from my dr's nurse again - she said that walgreens told her that the dr said I couldn't have it - she called them a liar - YAY!  so - then they said - Oh what me meant was it was denied due to the back order - ok fine.  So my dr - who cares about me called in a different medication to the local walgreens for me - SCARY!  I hope it works - the other one worked so well. 

Dogs...

Dogs. They slobber you with kisses, love to sit in your lap (no matter their size), and often seem to take you for a walk. When you're a “huggy mood," a dog is there to “snuggle-wuggle" and “ruzzle-wuzzle." They are devoted companions.

Project Dora

So - thus begains project Dora.  That is the name my new Explorer cam with from the prev owner.  I am gonna keep the name too.  I am going to get a personalized plate even.  Next I have to get the doggy gate thing that goes in the back with a rubber mat so Dozer can ride back there.  It needs a few things - we already did a fuel pump and filter, have a new belt for it, oil filter, oil and coolant.  Hubby is currently the one handed mechanic due to breaking his hand last week.  I am going to have to step up and help him as much as I can with this project and that is fine - it is my truck after all.  Gave her a bath yesterday and took her for a little spin.  Still needs a new spindle so it was just a short jaunt down the road and around the house a few times.  It is orange in color - it is growing on me - I like it.  Has tan leather seats - in fairly good condition.  The cover on the center console is cracked and the drivers seat is a bit worn - but hey - it is a 97!  Can not wait to start driving it!!  Dozer seems to like being in the back - have not taken him for a spin in it yet - still need the doggy gate.  

getting so big!

so my little boy is getting so big - is is now 45.5lbs. My husband broke his hand this past Friday night - we had to go to urgent care on Saturday.  We had to go to my work to get Xrays on Monday, then he got a cast on this morning.  They had to set the bones so we had to come back to my work for xrays to make sure the bones are in the right place now.  They want us to come back in three weeks to have it xrayed and checked to see if it can come off.  I am just happy he didn't need surgery.

Dozer has become obsessed with the splint - I can not wait to see what he does about the cast. This is Bryan's first cast.  He was lucky and got to pick a color - Black.  I wasn't given that option.  It was the best color for him cause it would just end up black after a while.

I have to help him with his showers - washing his hand - signing his name - all that fun stuff.

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES:

1. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP.

4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF LAXATIVES. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH.

My first attempt to post this was flagged as abusive - not sure how or why.

It seems he is going through the sleepless thing again - he wants to jump down off the bed get a drink - then go out side - then run around.  This process starts over again a few hours  later. OK - OK, it might not be that bad.  But at 2am it feels that bad.  To those of you who have had babies, you might be thinking "just suck it up girl" and I am - just needed to vent a bit.  There all better - moving on!

Happy St Patric's Day everyone - Hope you have all had a wonderful week - I feel bad cause I told you all I was going to do a much better job on updating this blog , well the next day I was given the very sad news that my great grandmother had passed away in the night.  It was very sad but at the same time it was a good thing.  She was suffering with dementia.  She was to that point where she had no idea who any of us were, she was talking to family members who have been dead for MANY, many years and could no longer get out of bed.  It was very sad to see a women who had prided herself in not needing help from anyone, she was severely independent.  That mood increased after my great Grandfather passed away.  She didn't want help, she just wanted to do things her way.  It was still that way to the very end.  She was firey, she was strong willed and as my grandmother put it - it was her way or the highway.  Sitting around with the family telling our own stories, the most poplar subject was her cooking.  You can't think of her without you mouth starting to water with the thoughts of home made cheese cake, GIANT pancakes for dinner, rice pudding and my all time fav - lemon meringue pie!  She used to make one for me every year for my birthday.  The last one I got was for my 16th.  My mom tried to make one - it was wonderful, ut not the same.  She will be missed - her food shall be missed.  We celebrate her life and the gifts she gave us all.  I will always have a different outlook on life thanks to her and my parents.  Love and miss you - always and forever - Courtney.

Dozer has also become obsessed with a blanket that came from her house.  He lays on it - rolls around on it - doesn't like to share it with the other dogs very much either.

So, here I am watching my favorite movie – the very movie that inspired this very blog – and I realized that I have not been doing a very good job of updating this blog. The movie I am speaking of is called “Julie & Julia” and it truly inspired me to write. The only other idea I have for a blog is one that I will start when we move forward with the adoption process. That way others who may be going through the same thing or might be thinking about adoption will have my thoughts to help them realize that they are not alone. 

It did help me ask another question to myself - who are my readers?  Do I have any?  If you would like to tell me - please feel free to drop me a line at DozerDays@hotmail.com.  I will answer questions right here in the blog.  If you would like me to not post any of your info with the question please let me know as part of the email.  I will try to pick a few to answer each week, that is if I get any.  Like I said, I am not really sure who my readers are.  I know my mom reads this everyday, she calls me when I have not posted anything to make sure that I am ok.

I could not have picked a more wonderful thing to write about, Dozer is the flash of fur running through my house that warms my heart – he has brought joy to our life and a bounce to our steps. This past weekend was our trip to Bowie for my 28^th birthday and Dozer's first trip. He did fairly well till 5 minutes outside of the park when he got sick in the back seat of the truck. We had covered everything so nothing would get ruined if he did get sick. We started to unpack everything and make the camp sight feel a little more like home. Dozer seemed to be taking to the sand like a champ. We didn't do much playing outside due to some bad wind. Once the sun went down it was nice and calm, but getting very cold. Our friends showed up and we had a nice time hanging out by a fire and having some drinks. I put Dozer's sweat shirt on him and we spent a little more time outside before it was just too darn cold for me and I was sure it was for Dozer.

The next day it was a fairly early start to a very nice day. We had a little bit of wind but nothing like it had been on Friday and it died off early. We had hot-dogs for lunch and took a very nice much needed nap. Bryan and I were able to go for a little ride cause our friends said they would watch Dozer. It was nice to be able to ride on some of the trails with Bryan, he also let me take the lead. We had steaks and potatoes as were my request. It was very yummy! Saturday night was no where near as cold as it was Friday night. Dozer didn't need his sweatshirt and we had a nice big fire going thanks to a VERY large log we found at another camp sight. We drug it over to our camp and tried to cut it down with a hand saw. That didn't work out very well – so we just decided to burn the whole thing. It took all night, Bryan didn't come to bed till after 1am. I was in bed early again due to Dozer being spooked by something and wanting to go in. I can not really blame him, he has not spent that much time outise before. The trailer was kept nice and warm by the furnace and we were toasty in out bed. It was wonderful! Dozer is a good cuddlier, and he slept all night both nights. We took some toys for him to play with, he found his big tenis ball and it was all over from there. We tied him to the post in camp and he stayed very content with playing with it all day.

Sunday morning was a little bit of a sad morning, it was time to pack up to go home. Dozer must have been sad too – cause he got sick two times. I think it is due to the fact that I gave him his Benadryl on an empty stomach so he was not riding in the car with a full belly. That didn't work out so well for Dozer. So on our way we were and all seemed kinda sad. We stopped at a gas station that was at tha half way point between the park and home sweet home. I went in and got food while Dozer and Bryan waited for me outside. Filled up the big truck and then we were back on the road again. Dozer was doing just fine – was laying down in the back seat, sleeping and playing with his toys. We could see the exit sign on the free way and got excited to be home. Upon pulling in the drive way we had to wait for the bikers down the way to pull out for their Sunday ride – Dozer got sick in the back seat the second we turned down out long drive way. Poor baby needs to work on his traveling skills a little bit more. He did so well in the sand and the camper that he has to go with us from now on, no questions asked.

When we got home we had to unhook the trailer and go get the other two furry children from my parents house. Normally my dad brings them to our house for us, but he is working security at the gun show. So my mom was home all weekend with my Great grandmother and 5 dogs. Gizmo and Portia love going to my parent's for the weekend and my mom love having them. Dad normally really loves to spend time with them two, but that last two trips he has been at the gun shows. We put Dozer in his kennel while we got them, he was not too happy about that. But when we got home Portia and Dozer ran to each other and slobbered all over each other. It was the cutest thing, Gizmo was really not that happy to see Dozer, but he soon got over it. A few hours after we got home Giz was giving Dozer kisses. As I sit here on the couch with my laptop I look over and see them sitting in the same chair while Dozer chews away on his toy. I say “aww” out loud and he gets up and walks away like it never happened, sure make a liar out of me. So it is almost 9pm, time to move to the bed room and start thinking about going to sleep. I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday and I promise that I will try to keep up with updating more often than I have been as of late. I also promise to make this more of a true Boxer/Dozer blog instead of my venting blog. I can start another on for that if that is what I need. Also keep and eye out for my future adoption blog. I will also be adding a way to make donations on that and this blog to help with adoption process. I also need to start selling the sock monkeys and bunnies that I crochet. They can go for the adoption process and maybe another boxer after Gizmo goes off the the big kennel in the sky.
